About Blue Claw

Tour boat named "Blue Claw" on calm water with an American flag and a Yamaha motor, near a shoreline.

We are a family owned Mid Coast Maine Tour Company specializing in Sightseeing Excursions, Sunset Cruises, and Design Your Own Private Custom Cruises. For your safety and peace of mind, we have met all requirements of the United States Coast Guard and the American Red Cross in Adult CPR/AED, Child/Infant CPR, as well as First Aid. We are also in compliance with the USCG drug/alcohol testing programs as required. We are drug-free vessels.

Our three vessels were built by Privateer, in North Carolina, and these 25′ Renegades are working class boats that are built tough, performing exceptionally well in all conditions. Similar vessels are used by harbormasters, police, fishermen, and water taxis. Powered by clean burning 4 Stroke, 225/250 HP Yamaha outboards, they get the job done and are also environmentally-friendly. Wrap-around seating provides exceptional viewing and comfort. BLUE CLAW, BRAVO, and ROAMEO are Coast Guard certified to carry 17 passengers and a captain, equipped with VHF, 24 mile Furuno Radar, Navigational GPS, Depth Sounder and Air & Water Temperature Gauges; they also have a side door for easy off loading on sandy beaches. BLUE CLAW, BRAVO, and ROAMEO are well-equipped for touring the waters of Mid Coast Maine, handling the shoreline as deftly as its namesake, the venerable Blue Crab.

Captain Rob Wissmann

Licensed by the Coast Guard since 1982, Captain Robert Wissmann has a 100 Ton Masters license. In the past he has captained 100′ passenger and freight vessels on the waters of Great South Bay, as well as salvage vessels on Long Island Sound. An active sailor delivering boats to Florida, he has also raced several times to Bermuda. Active on most of the harbors and waters of Cape Cod and Mid Coast Maine, he has earned a working knowledge of these shores–their geology, history, and maritime lore.
